Sarara Tsukifune and "metro" has been working hard so that foreign visitors who love theater may enjoy our performance despite a language barrier. We have developed an audio guide system to utilize it for our performance.
Please feel free to contact us at 070-5575-9691 for reservations of both tickets and an audio guide.
Our last show of “Nirinsou” in 2017 received good reviews, in spite of the severe challenges of turning a literature into a performance.
My intention was to transform a Rampo Edogawa’s paranoid, a crazy tale into a moralizing play. I was at a loss picking métro's next play, for example, Akinari Ueda or Kyoka Izumi. And I chose the latter.
Yet, Kyoka and his works are by far the most difficult to deal with.
In addition, I couldn’t help adapting the art form of a “Ko-Joruri,” or a Japanese Traditional Marionette Play, into a live-action performance. “Isshin-niga-byakudo”, one of Kabuki’s oldest and most well-known fables, is that; “Princess Sakura and Priest Seigen”.
Attempting to create a marriage of Kyoka’s and Ko-Joruri, I found the task nearly impossible to bring to fruition. However, inspired by the talents of Sarara with Isshi Youki and Hitomi accompanied by, I was determined to bring my vision of Kyoka’s phantom-like beauty to life.
As the contemporary Japanese psyche is dampened, full of indulgence, I will offer toughest audiences a rare moment full of wonder reminding you of the raw, bitter and uncomfortable realities of the human experience through métro's performance. Our actors and marionettes are expecting you to come wandering into the tiny play house at Shinjuku’s bar district.
